Strickland tautonymy

Strickland tautonymy
in 1843, H. E. Strickland and others considered rules of zoological nomenclature, one of which was that no genus and species name should be the same. As a result various authors proposed replacement names for the species name; this is no longer the case and unneeded replacement names may occur in taxonomic works
